Fitbit Reviews – Can The Fitbit Help You Get In Shape?
Reviews of Fitbit rave about the Fitbit Wireless Tracker. If you have not heard of the Fitbit Tracker, then you probably will soon.
Essentially, the Fitbit is a 21st century pedometer that tracks your activity and sleep levels, then provides feedback as to your progress.
To give you an idea of what this neat little gadget can do, let me explain just a couple of its unique benefits.
What is Fitbit?
First of all, as you can see by the picture, the Fitbit measures just a couple inches and is extremely thin. It can be attached to pretty much anywhere on your clothes. Because of its small size, you can wear it discreetly.
What does Fitbit do?
Fitbit uses the same technology found in the Wii remotes – so basically it is very sensitive to every movement you make.
It primarily tracks 2 things – your daily activity and your sleep patterns.
It tracks your activity based on the amount of physical activity you get during the day (as sensed by the Wii technology). Some of things it keeps track of are:
- Steps walked throughout the day
- Calories burned throughout the day
Then, at night, you wear it with the included wrist sleeve and it records your sleep patterns, such as:
- Time you went to bed
- How long it took you to fall asleep
- How many times you woke up
- What time you woke up
You then upload this data wirelessly to your profile on the Fitbit.com website, where it places all of your information into easy to understand charts and graphs.
On the Fitbit.com website, you can input your daily caloric intake to track your calories in vs calories burned.
Bodybugg vs Fitbit
Bodybugg is another popular fitness tracker that was used on the popular TV show, The Biggest Loser.
There is not a lot of difference between Bodybugg and Fitbit, except Bodybugg costs almost twice as much AND you have to pay a monthly subscription fee to access the Bodybugg website (the Fitbit website is free).
All in all, the Fitbit is a much better deal and should meet your fitness needs.
Can Fitbit Help You Get In Shape?
Like any fitness equipment, they will only work if you actually use them. On average, Fitbit users report that they have a 43% increase in steps during the day and on average lose an additional 13 pounds while using the Fitbit.
They also note that one of the biggest impacts the Fitbit has on their lives is that they are now aware of their activity levels throughout the day, and thus, act upon that information.
Where to buy Fitbit
Your best bet is to buy the Fitbit directly on the Fitbit.com website (you get free shipping). The Fitbit is the same price on Amazon.com as it is on the Company’s website. You can also buy it on Ebay, however, a quick scan of some of the prices reveal that some of them sell for more than $135, so you may or may not get a deal at Ebay.
Fitbit Reviews Summary
All in all, the Fitbit is a great buy. If you are at all concerned with tracking your activity levels on a day to day basis, then the Fitbit is right for you.
