“The web tools are FREE!!”
Enter the FitBit. A calorie tracker, pedometer, sleep tracker all in one. Pretty up there on the technology level yet affordable. It’s actually a cute little thing without a cumbersome chest strap or arm band or anything else accentuating anything I don’t want people looking at to begin with. The bonus was that the web tools are FREE!! Read full review here…

Fitbit Reviews Detail -
It’s amazing in this day and age the number of new gadgets that come out that promise to somehow make your life easier. But it seems that with all of the new gadgets, life seems to get more and more complicated!
So, is the Fitbit Wireless Fitness Tracker just another “gadget” making high claims to make your life easier?
Yes, it does, and according to the majority of users, it does in fact make a few aspects of your life easier – specifically, tracking your daily activity and your sleep patterns.
Fitbit Reviews – What Exactly Does Fitbit Do?
Utilizing the same technology used in the Wii remotes, the Fitbit tracks your movements throughout the day to keep track of how much activity you are getting and how many calories you are burning. According to Fitsugar.com, it’s like a “pedometer on steroids.” And not only do users rave about it’s ability to wirelessly track your activity levels, but they also love the fact that it tracks your sleep, specifically tracking how well you are sleeping.
While tracking your daily activity and sleep patterns, whenever you pass within 15 feet of the wireless base (that is attached to your computer), the Fitbit wirelessly uploads the data it has collected to your profile on the Fitbit.com website. It organizes all of this information into neat, easy to understand pie charts and graphs, and averages tracked over time to give you an idea of your overall fitness level. The website is free to use once you purchase the Fitbit.
According to the Fitbit.com website, users report a 43% increase in activity levels and an average of 13 lbs lost while using the Fitbit.
As someone who has lost more than 130 lbs myself through exercise and eating right, I can believe this claim, as the biggest catalyst in losing my weight was simply being aware of how much activity I was getting and how much food I was taking in. Simply being aware of these things can make a huge difference.
How do you use the Fitbit Tracker?
You can see how small the Fitbit actually is from the picture. It is designed to be clipped to your clothes anywhere on your body, even your undergarments. It can also be put in your pocket, however, the reading are not as accurate when in a pocket.
What does the Fitbit.com Dashboard tell you?
Once your information is uploaded from the Fitbit to the Fitbit.com website, you can log in to your account and view everything in easy to understand graphs and charts.
You will have to manually input your food intake for the day to determine your caloric intake. This information is then used and compared to your calories burned as tracked by the Fitbit to help determine your overall activity levels.
Fitbit Reviews From Around The Web
What are people raving about?
Most people that use the Fitbit absolutely love it and claim that it is the best all around fitness monitor for the price. Here’s why:
- Incredibly easy to use. You set it, clip it, and forget it.
- At night, it slips into a handy sleeve, which is worn on the wrist of your less-dominant hand to track your sleep patterns.
- No programming is required.
- It is extremely affordable
- It is between 95%-97% accurate
- The website is free to use (as opposed to the Bodybugg, which costs twice as much and charges for website use). There is a premium membership on the Fitbit site which charges a fee, but the free membership is all you really need.
- The flower that “grows” on the back of the Fitbit as your activity level increases throughout the day
What do people NOT like about the Fitbit -
- It is water-resistant and not water-proof. Whats the difference? Water-resistant means that it will hold up to your sweat and other minor exposure to moisture. Water-proof means you can’t wear it in the pool or the shower.
- Some activities, like cycling, will not register as a rigorous activity, but you can manually enter these activities into the website and track its effect on your overall activity levels
- It can be lost very easily, so you have to be careful not to leave it clipped to clothes or just simply be careful not to misplace it.
How much does it cost and where can you get one?
The Fitbit costs $99 plus shipping and handling. The best place to get one is directly from Fitbit at Fitbit.com (plus for a limited time they have free shipping). The price is the same at Amazon.com. You MIGHT be able to get one cheaper at Ebay.com, but a scan of their selection showed that some were selling for as much as $125, which makes no sense because you can get them directly from Fitbit.com for $99, with FREE shipping.
Who should buy a Fitbit
If your health is important to you and you want an easy and seamless way to track your daily activity, then the Fitbit is right for you. It is a simple, yet powerful way to keep tabs on your fitness and keep your awareness level high as to how much activity you are getting on a daily basis.
If this describes you, then take the next step and order a Fitbit, you won’t regret it.
